On November 2, 2016, the Federal Register published Presidential Notice of October 31, 2016 – Continuation of the National Emergency With Respect to Sudan which extends for an additional year the national emergency first declared in Executive Order (EO) 13067 of November 3, 1997. The national emergency is being continued because the actions and policies of the Government of Sudan continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, the national emergency declared in EO 13067, expanded on April 26, 2006, and with respect to which additional steps were taken on October 13, 2006.
