On 10 June 2014, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) announced that on 4 and 5 June 2014, a delegation from the EFTA States met with the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) and others in Washington DC. The EFTA delegation of high-level officials pursued talks aimed at assessing the potential for increasing trade and investment opportunities between the EFTA States and the US. They met with Dan Mullaney, Assistant USTR for Europe and the Middle East and discussed the status of EFTA and US activities in the area of preferential trade relations, addressing the relevance to the EFTA States of the ongoing negotiations between the US and the EU on a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). The announcement said that EFTA and US business representatives exchanged views on the state of EFTA-US trade relations before joining government officials for a joint session. The EFTA delegates held meetings with representatives of the National Foreign Trade Council, the Centre for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University, and the American Farm Bureau Federation.
