On 13 April 2017, the Minister of International Trade and Industry published in the Federal Government Gazette P.U. (B) 191/2017 Notice of Affirmative Final Determination of an Investigation With Regard to Steel Concrete Reinforcing Bar Products Imported Into Malaysia pursuant to the Safeguards Act 2006 which applied to steel concrete reinforcing bars that are hot rolled steel bars containing indentations, ribs, grooves or other deformation.  Subsequently, on 13 April 2017, the Minister of Finance published in the Federal Government Gazette P.U. (A) 122/2017 Customs (Definitive Safeguard Duties) Order 2017 – Safeguards Act 2006 and  – Customs Act 1967 imposing definitive safeguard duties for three years beginning at 13.42% and ending at 11.10%. The order covers exportations from the EU and EFTA states, Armenia, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, the PRC, and the USA. Also on 13 April 2017, the Minister of International Trade and Industry published in the Federal Government Gazette  P.U. (B) 192/2017 Notice of Affirmative Final Determination of an Investigation With Regard to Steel Wire Rods and Deformed Bar in Coils Products Imported Into Malaysia pursuant to the Safeguards Act 2006. Subsequently, on 14 April 2017,  the Minister of Finance published in the Federal Government Gazette P.U. (A) 123/2017 Customs (Definitive Safeguard Duties) (No. 2) Order 2017 – Safeguards Act 2006 and  – Customs Act 1967 imposing definitive safeguard duties for three years beginning at 13.90% and ending at 11.90% on steel wire rods in hot rolled alloy or non-alloy and deformed bar in coils, in regular or irregular wound coils with certain exceptions. The order covers exportations from the EU and EFTA states, Armenia, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, the PRC, S. Korea, Singapore, and the USA.
