Mexico - President decrees tariff changes

On December 31, 2012, the Ministry of the Economy published in the Diario Oficial de la Federacion (the Official Gazette) the Decree amending the Tariff of the Law of General Import and Export Duties (Decreto por el que se modifica la Tarifa de la Ley de los Impuestos Generales de Importación y de Exportación). The Decree postpones for one year the entry into force of tariff reductions scheduled for 2013 in respect of 94 tariff subheadings involving textile, clothing and footwear products. The affected tariff subheadings account for seven percent of the 1,339 total textile, clothing and footwear subheadings, including: suits, coats, sweaters, pants, shirts, underwear, baby clothes, hosiery, swimwear, dresses, and skirts as well as leather dress footwear, casual and sports footwear, synthetic and casual footwear, casual, dress, athletic and sandals, canvas shoes.

71 other tariff subheadings involving these products will go into effect on January 1, 2012.
