Russia, Sanctions, and the Rule of Law

Will the U.S. take any action in response to allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election? Will Russia sanctions be expanded?  Or lifted?  Have the Russia sanctions worked? Where are U.S.-Russia relations going?

Join us on March 31 for a special briefing by Elizabeth O’Bagy, Legislative Assistant with the Office of Senator McCain.  Ms. O’Bagy will discuss the Countering Russian Hostilities Act of 2017, which would impose sanctions on Russia for interfering in the 2016 Presidential elections and violating its international commitments in Georgia, Ukraine and Syria.  The Act would also provide support for democracy and anti-corruption initiatives in Europe, require the U.S. government to take measures to combat Russian propaganda and establish a task force to combat Russian money laundering.  If passed, the Act could have serious implications for U.S. businesses operating in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.  At this seminar, we will discuss the possible consequences of the Act for international business and the rule of law.  We will be joined by Baker McKenzie lawyers with expertise in anti-corruption and trade compliance.  So please join us for what promises to be a fascinating discussion.
