On 27 September 2016, the Official Journal published Council Decision (CFSP) 2016/1711 of 27 September 2016 amending Common Position 2001/931/CFSP on the application of specific measures to combat terrorism (the Decision) and Council Regulation (EU) 2016/1710 of 27 September 2016 amending Regulation (EC) No 2580/2001 on specific restrictive measures directed against certain persons and entities with a view to combating terrorism (the Regulation). The Decision amends Common Position 2001/931/CFSP to add an Article 5 which suspends (subject to a specific review by the Council after six months) the measures referred to in Articles 2, 3 and 4 of the Common Position, in so far as they apply to “Fuerzas armadas revolucionarias de Colombia” — “FARC” (“Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia”), as a result of the signing of a peace agreement between FARC and the Colombian government. In order to insure its uniform application throughout the Union, the Regulation, which suspends measures in paragraphs 1 and 2 of Art. 2 of Regulation (EC) No 2580/2001, was adopted.
